    First attempt at a knife

Had my first go at forging a knife from a file tonight. It still needs a bit more grinding and heat treating and a handle but I'm quite pleased with it so far, especially as it's my first go.

    Lessons learned tonight -
Forging the tang first is probably easier!
Aldi belt linishers are a waste of money!

Going to spend some time making a decent belt grinder as my aldi effort stops as soon as you show it the steel.

Will post more pics once it's finished, going to Farmway tomorrow to get some antler for a handle

Nice to see, please continue to share your progress - especially on the home made linisher.

    Most Aldi electrical goods got a 3year warrenty,Burn it out n you'll get a cash refund,as they don't have any to replace it!.with "specials",only been available for a week!etc...
We used to have workmen come into store buy a couple of drills for less money than they could buy batteries for their heavy duty drills,(which often got stolen if they left on charge on site).n within 2yrs bring them back n get a refund.or free replacement if they timed it right.
You are never too old to learn!. A SURVIVER!

Good job so far, As Bernie says "keep the photos coming"

I use an Aldi belt sander and it pretty good but the belts don't last long before coming apart at the joint
Campfires are best shared with friends.
