We have much to learn from nature.

just read this in my DM,
    SHARKSKIN TO TACKLE MRSA.
A new materail based on sharkskin could helpfight super bugs in hospitals.
Bacteria are less able to attach to the textured fabric.Which in tests was found to hold 94% fewer MRSA bugs than smooth surfaces.
Now research believe it could be used to cover surfaces in hospitals as well as medical instruments.
Dr.Ethan Mann told the journal Antimicrobial Infection Control "Sharkiskin has p0roperties that deter marine organisms from attaching. We have learned much from nature."

We'll see???Guess only time will tell??

I'm sure many nurses will disagree with you about listers.....the one sat immediately to my right being one.

Man knew so much about nature so many centuries ago...then we Europeans decided to teach the 'savages' about our world.

Nothing goes around like opinions in medicine...take the torniquet, leeches and maggots for example.

    Still an interesting idea though

Nature is always the best teacher. Humans have been around for a fraction of the time that most other species have been here, so we're probably the least equipped to deal with things. Not to mention our so called "intelligence", which is ultimately free thinking. We all know that free thinking is dangerous, as it breeds all kinds of funny ideas, with only a small percentage of those ideas being good ones, or helpful ones.

    Yeah, absolutely right.
Nature is the best medicine and healing remedy. Modern medicine would do well to learn lessons from it.

I know for certain that if I have a massive aneurysm I won't be calling for an ambulance and modern medicine. No. What I'll demand is a poultice made from nettles, marjoram, and honey. Nature knows best!

Modern medicine did take lessons from nature....aspirin, digoxin, celox, penicillin, amoxycillin, morphine, doxicycline....

The AAA is an extreme example to use, particularly when the context is regarding the natural bacteria resistant properties of shark skin and its uses for infection control in a healthcare setting
