    Crab apple kuksa

    Newest kuksa I started the other day so far. Wood is crab apple got some clean up work still and finish the detail work on the handle.
    Was lucky enough to score some nice sized chunks of it to

    Looks great, mo chara .
    How did you find the crab apple to be? Easy to work with? I've tried using regular apple in the past and found it quite difficult with all the knots. There are a few crab apples across the street, haven't tried them yet.

    Thanks man I honestly like it. Can be very funky to work depending on how gnarly the grain is also how dry. This is still green ya can see the couple wet spots drying inside the bowl. I tend to favor major hard woods anyways. That said an adze is key to working it she can be brutal

    I figured -I'll definitely give crab apple a go, but not with seasoned wood...too dang gnarly.

    Cool look forward to what ya do up. But don't let it fool ya apple crab or otherwise cane be brutally gnarly green or seasoned just keep your tools sharp is all

    ...and give it some good elbow grease . Funny thing is that I found Black Oak easier to work than the apple. That's tough.

    Seeing as Wood Grain is an important factor in cup, bowl or Kuska....I've wondered how Glueing more than one piece together would result in a more stable, final piece that could stand up to the rigours of Hot and Cold Water....with Human Consumption in Mind....Opinions Welcome....

    i found fresh apple nice to work but the fibres tend to tear in parts of the wood when working it with the axe..nice job by the way ...atb kev
