I tend to use a bum bag for two reasons. It holds the essentials without allowing me to load it up with stuff I won't use, plus it's easy to slide around to the front when I want to sit down in comfort.

    Reccomendations for a utility belt?

I wanted something similar and couldn't find a character or period one without having to spend a lot. Made this leather one instead that's big enough and tuff as. Inside out (the pattern sizes before you sew it up) it measures 7"x9" the sewn in belt loop helps it to stay put.
You can fit a fair amount of things within too, nothing has gone missing from it yet

There is pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar, I love not man the less, but Nature more.

Agree your use of Molle pouches Yeti ... Though Law's idea of a utility belt looked very low profile ..

I like Maxpedition pouches ... either used on a belt , attatched to my Sabercat or 511 Rush 72 ...

very flexible system ( and weaving molle / malice clips or tac ties is always fun )

but not as low profile as Law's utility belt ...

    hello,
The NBC roll makes a great utility belt. I originally designed this for Recce use with the then new Soldier 85 kit well we were using the SAS OG Armalite pouches mix with Cyclops ROC & the SAS OG issue Bergen's. The NBC roll was in place of the bulky NBC butt pack & could be carried like a bandolier/Hudson bay pack cross shoulder where the idea originated. It's carried allsorts of kit from 7.62mm belts of ammunition, Basha & waterproofs, countless other kit along with belt order & not forgetting Survival/Bushcraft kit. I'll have to photograph the original MkI O.G SASS NBC roll version. I designed this way back as said when 58 patt kit was phased out & Soldier 85 kit was coming in (still have this in mint condition) SASS very kindly took it on-board & it's gone from strength to strength http://www.survivalaids.com/plce-nbcponcho-roll-mtp
    Regards
    David
