Silly question, but are there any natural pot covers for a crusader cup?

The lid to that cup costs £15... silly price for what it is. Are there any natural materials I could use?

hello,
I suppose you could fashion one out of a flat piece of wood or bark? BCB International UK http://www.bcbin.com do a plastic cup version.

You could try 2 thin sheets of marine ply, 1 cut to fit inside the cup, 1 to sit on top. Will the glue delaminate? No idea! Its an adventure!
Or
Cut the top from sheet aluminium/stainless steel/titanium/wood and drill 3 or 4 holes in it (in the right place) to fit some nuts/bolts to keep the top in place.
You can make your own out of thin aluminium, do a search for crusader cup lid. A few of us have made them successfully.
Regular aluminum foil works great .

I tried to make one last week with poor results. Ali was so soft it was awful. A cheap oven tray would do the job tho...
Winter is coming
Just use a bit of tin foil. Someone over on BCUK was making them and maybe still does, I had two off him, aluminium and really good...but foil works just as well if I'm honest.

Just a wee bit of wood for me. Doesn't have to look pretty, it just covers the cup.

Isn't it nice when someone says "that's a great piece of kit, where did you buy that", then you can modestly reply "you can't buy it, I made it myself". The moral is, it's amazing what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.

Someone, somewhere (I'm good at this stuff, aren't I?) mentioned about using the lid as a frying pan, is it big enough for that or am I grasping the wrong end of a very large stick?
