    another tip find

i found this old cleaver at the tip the other week, its made by cornelius whitehouse & sons cannock and according to the cataloge i found online it could be the smithfield model.
i'm in the middle of re-handling it and then decide what to do with it,i will either find someone who will use it for its intended purpose or might keep it and maybe use it as a froe? any ideas on that..good idea or not so good?..atb kev

I have a similar but cheaper version of one that I picked up at the car boot for a quid. They are great for chopping kindling.

I've got a beautiful old cleaver quite similar which came to me for nothing, it's sat beside my fire place at the moment resting on our kindling basket we used it occasionally to split kindling as it weighty & has a nice abrupt bevel to it which splits nicely for small jobs. I might see if I can share a pic.
