did my basics and was kicked out on count of my knees
There is pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar, I love not man the less, but Nature more.

I progressed from Air Cadet to adult staff in the RAF VR (T). Duties included (but were not restricted to) mini bus driver, cook, administrator, pilot, instructor, range officer and treasurer. I left due to work and rejoined some years later as a civilian instructor and ended up running a squadron. I had some great times and was lucky enough to get on a Mountain Leadership course in Snowdonia. Not sure if I will go back to what is fundamentally "youth work" but I certainly haven't ruled it out....
