    I think I'd have been shouting a lot earlier, if not shooting.

    We had a close encounter with a mum and two cubs in BC on our honeymoon a few years ago. I think I was still buzzing a couple of days after.

    Whoa, you could see that bear had his scent from about 5 secs in there, he was simply following the scent trail and didn't recognise it as human..the guy was most likely a deer hunter using a masking scent and that's what the bear was following..But fair play to him for remaining cool!

    Nothing to worry about there,the guy had a clear head shot from about 2 feet away.If he missed the noise would have seen the bear off.All the same well done to him for not panicking and shooting it.

    I wouldnt shoot it either way, maybe pop a shot in the air to frighten it if it got way too close.
