    It's none of the above! ... it is a misleading photos perhaps, so young and all.

    Ok, to go along with my other hints: you might use this plant along with water!

    Soapwort / Saponaria

    It's Soapwort (Saponaria)! Can't believe the hints didn't give it away

    Apparently it can spread quite easily once you have it established, which is handy as I'm actually contemplating planting a load in the garden and using it for soap!

    I've found a double-flowered variety of Soapwort near to my house recently, Bouncing Bett as it's known: http://wildflowerfinder.org.uk/Flowe...t/Soapwort.htm

    The seeds were a pain in the backside to germinate, I'm not sure if I just had a bad batch or not but I've got a handful of small plants on the go now.

    horse chestnut and snowberry are also full of saponins
