Just back from a few nights in the wood and pleased to see the difference from a couple of weeks ago. I thought I'd post a few comparison photos, just to show that early summer seems to be finding it's way into the wood and The Oak King's time is close.
March and the Holly King and winter still ruled.
Now the wheel has turned and the warm sunlight fills the wood and new growth is everywhere.
"The Windflowers", the Wood Anemones are being joined by the Bluebells and already their scent is starting to fill the wood.
The Bluebell that struggled up through the leaves to find the sun has won it's battle..

And now....
Different locations within the wood are properly named.
This is Golloms Tree.
And an older photo of "The Elves Bridge" named by my Grandaughter.
Young Ferns waiting their turn to share the sun.
I sit by the fire with a brew watching Robins whizzing about like frantic little red Meteorites, squabbling over territory, while the Bluetits seem better organised and peaceful.
Deep in the wood Beltane and all it means to some is truely obvious, and it was nice to sit on the warm earth and feel drunk with the silence and beauty of the woods, and be content.
