Saved from the second hand shop

Got these as Christmas presents, both came from a local second hand shop and both were in a right state.

I reckon whoever had the Elwell Billhook before thought it was a hammer.......

Anyway I gave them some TLC and they now are useable tools once again :D

The Marples drawknife has a small flat spot on the flat side but I'll get it out on the next sharpen, not sure how old it is maybe someone can tell me?

    The Elwell Billhook is a Devon pattern 10" 4583 , circa 1940's

Lovely looking tools there Glen. You have done a great job bringing them back to life as well mate.

That drawknife is a bit special isn't it.

    Well done.

    Fantastic Glen.

I haven't used a billhook for years since my grandfather taught me hedge laying. It's great to think that you have rescued this one.

Well done buddy. A bit more heritage and history saved.

    Nicely done indeed!

I've been on the lookout for a draw knife for a while now. Something makes me want to buy a really old one, not a new one.

Nice tools Glen. A lot of old tools were used as hammers
