    Tools

I have recently wrote this post on my blog regarding the tools I own and use which is the main reason for the post. The post can be seen here: http://theoutdoorist.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/tools.html

But I would also like to ask is there any tool you think I need or something that would make my tools better? Or even a knife you highly recommend?

Also I have owned over 150 knives and I am now down to 8 so out of curiosity, how many knives do you own?

    Thanks, Ben.

Me too but it can be frowned upon - what's wrong with a digging stick they shouted at me...!
Don't sweat the small stuff - and it's ALL small stuff...!

I have to agree, a small trowel saves a lot of back ache in the field

There will be many people suggesting a small axe too, but I shall leave that to you lol

I have carried a trowel but the amount of times I use it i'd rather leave it at home and improvise for the weight as its stainless

I have tried Axes and tomohawks and enjoyed using them, did not want to part with my Gransfors but i didn't need it, i just liked it. Would not like a bite off it either! A real tool that should be respected out in the woods.

    Thank's guys

I think you nailed it perfectly there
i didn't need it, i just liked it
It's all about finding things you need, and ditching the things you don't. Many of us struggle to leave the shiny things behind.

I think you nailed it too! I could not agree more, not just shiny things either, I'd find myself filling my pack with things not because i needed them but because they were new or i had not used them in a while.. good when you use them but carrying them in and out would put me off the whole trip! Very much what influenced me to slim down on the tools and kit in general.

    Cheers, Ben.

I think that's why people buy the ultralight kit, then they can bring more of it to look at
