Hi all, just had a great day blacksmithing, down here in Kent with Ross out at Petts Bottom.
Great guy and ended up with a wide variety of forged equipment. Started simple with a poker so it started by drawing the metal to a point then some bending to shape a crook before a nice little scroll, then onto some metal twisting, and finally the point.
Then using part of a horse shoe forged a lovely knife, also done the burning oil, and the tempering. Really pleased with this and can't wait to get a good sharp edge on it.
Then some finer stuff, a little metal leaf so pleased with this, then still had time so made a lovely pot hanger for the open fire.
Finally made a beautiful toasting fork, with a scroll on the handle and another little twist in the shaft,
Can't recommend Ross enough, and his lovely wife had sorted out a fantastic lunch for us, and all this in a beautiful quite country environment.
Great day
