I showed the picture to another person & they thought it was devils bolete ! When I found it I cut it in half and found no instant redding of stem, like when Ray Mears cut the one on his wild food programme, as I'm no fungi expert at the moment I'll give it a miss even if it is red cracking bolete, the book says its not good eating ? Anyway

Definitely not one of the poisonous boletes.
This is one of the poorer boletes for eating, yes.
