hello Tony,
Thanks for the reply M4TE. I'll ask for more photo's if available as it was the only one sent to me for now.
My friend spotted these in the garden & was wondering if edible or poisonous including towards wildlife. I've had a browse
at what fungi is available this time of year & still baffled likewise as to what ever has had a nibble. Maybe someone
will recognise such from what's available, I'll post any other photies when I receive them.
Thanks for the reply very much appreciated.
Regards
David
Hi Tony
It is defo a member of the Boletus Genus, however without further photo's it's quite hard to be more specific. But at first glance (which is NEVER safe) it could be a rather washed out Red Cracking Bolete.

Thanks guy's for the replies.
Photo of the patch. Sorry the fungi was removed after images were taken.
I have explained the issues of fungi spores etc.. so there could be another
growth next year.

Hi,
This is Boletus radicans. Not edible. Too bitter. And too rare to justify picking anyway.
Geoff
hello Geoff,
Unsure? I could check with the photographer?
No problem.
