What did I use to start this fire?

I was out in coniferous woodland in the rain and got fire in under a minute just by using what was around, what did I use??

Pine resin and dry pine needles?

    That would be my guess.

    Hi Luresalive.

    More specifics please:

When you say 'what was around', do you mean in the general vicinity, or just what's shown in the pic?

    It can be done

Ade and Jonnyp are the closest, really the fire was made from what is just in the pic and one other essential ingredient and that was what was on fire and came from the surrounding woodland, this should solve the riddle...

I was going to guess perhaps a bit of Birch bark and a pine cone of which I think you can just see.

But thanks to the clue it's (flammable) resin out of the blisters of trees like Balsam Fir, ontop of a pine cone? I to have started fires by spark and the resin from blisters like those

    Thanks for sharing
