First attempt at an axe sheath

Here's my first (very poor) attempt at making a leather sheath for my Helko 2 1/4lb felling axe, using an old briefcase and some leather thong.

    The donor leather

    Which is this thick...

I used the clasp flap to form the welt, as it was double thickness and bonded together...

Cut the leather, approximately to the shape of the Gransfors sheath...

Glued the lot together, to hold it firm as I drilled the pilot holes for the thong, snaps, and rivet...

Then attached the snaps, rivet, and stitched the welt in with the thong...

Not pretty, but it does it's job and gives me something to improve on for the next one.

CLAP clearly loudly, as an order, with pauses

I've never been a fan of black leather, so hoping to get to the saddlers tomorrow and grab a couple offcuts of tan. Plus won't have the holes from previous stitching to deal with. Also, the snap fasteners I got for this one, aren't really up to the job.

Thanks for the kind feedback though buddy.

It's part of bsuhcraft, in as much as it's helping to save the planet, and there for, being able to live in harmony with it.
