It's not as extreme as it looks. There were four large logs of beech around the base, to contain the fire and support the cooking grill when the centre burns down to coals, and the big lump on it was sopping wet from being semi immersed in marsh for a couple months. It did burn well until about 1 or 2 am and still hot and glowing, ready to be kicked back into life, at 6:30am for coffee.Originally Posted by swkieran
