    Yaffle..

Had a Yaffle (green wood pecker) in the tree outside my window today and managed to get a shot of it..
I heard it before I saw it as is often the case..

Beautiful shot Jonny, thanks for sharing! Looks nice and healthy

I think that photo might crop down to make a nice panoramic as well.

Cheers Ash.. Looks like colour among black and white, but its not been played with..
It would probably get grainy if its cropped. That was on max optic and digital zoom in a tree 30 meters from me in bad light..

Thought I'd have a go at enhancing and cropping, what do ya think. I don't think I can get it much better, but then I'm no expert.

As well as Green Woodpeckers, we also have two other sort in this Country..

    Greater Spotted Woodpecker..

And the quite rare Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (sparrow size).

    Thumbs up Woodpecker info

Thanks for sharing that JonnyP, might help Bambii keep an eye out for them

This was more the sort of crop I was thinking of, of course I'm dealing with a low resolution copy of the photo so it might not look much good in terms of quality...

Great shot JonnyP, any chance of a link to a full-res one to play with?

Tracked quite a nice kestrel with it's prey up a sunken lane today. Didn't have a camera though.
