Resnikov & Crazysaint's recent trip posts have inspired me to try and go "a bit lighter" on my next trip. Think I'm still packing too much kit.

If there were plenty of trees on the moor I would have gone a lot lighter with the hammock and ditch the tent, Mine cheapo tent weighs in at 2.6kg.
Inspiration for my trip came from that most wonderful of chaps Martin.

dont want to hijack your post but have a general question for other hammock users
'does anyone else get sore/numb heels in their hammock' ?

If you use a compact hammock your feet get squished together in the night, further reducing blood flow. I'm making a "toe bar" for mine to hold the foot end wider during the night

I got mine from DD Tarps just green at the min mate LOL I got the big 3 X 4.5 it is a bit big but I have loads of cover

See I went for the MC (multi cam) 3 x 3. been using a 2.4 x 3 so I'll have more cover than I did, plus can always turn it diagonal for extra length and my hammy is only a compact so quite short compared to some. £32.99 inc VAT so a decent price I thought for a 2011 model

LOL, I'm only 5'10" so a 2.3 hammy just about does it with the draw in at the foot end haha
