Denatured alcohol found in the paint section I most hardware stores. Also known as fuel for marine stoves
How big a piece of wood are you planning to baton regularaly? If small branches get a mora companion they work very well. I've also used any of the classics to. If you want something a little beefier...
If you have any old files in your garage or basement just break a piece off they make great strikers. That's what my first one was
I do exactly the same thing catches the spark quickly to. It's practice using a flint and steel. Make sure the striker has a smooth sharp edge strike against a sharp edge on the stone just watch out...
Hey tar the cork does work well alone the cup is just stored over it. Also if you want a nice stainless kettle gsi makes a fantastic one. Very light to
Grand little folders. I use a number 8 stainless I gt a while back everything from lighting a fire to stoves. Also kitchen use and a bit of carving at times. Hard to bet for the price
If it's a single wall flask you can most certainly use it to boil with I've done it plenty of times. Those volcano stoves are great kit I've had one before they boil very fast
Huh hadn't seen anything on this one. For me could be a handy blade while riding. I actually could see this one being handy for carving good companion knife to a bigger mora

Careful with wood stoves I know of some areas that don't even allow those. For simplicity stove wise I'd opt for a trangia. For actual real cooking and heat control I'd go a white gas stove.
Impressive work on those. Have been toying to get a pack to play around with over the summer
They can be done with nothing more than a good sharp pocket knife. Some will add a small gouge called a V tool for doing stuff like the beard. A small gouge is nice but not really required. I've done...
Decided to try out my Swedish army svea alcohol stove with my mors pot and a small fry pan to do a little baking. Was an add water only muffin mix took I'd guess maybe 3 to 4 ounces of alcohol to...
Hope it heals fast man. Yep recall a kid lopping off part of his finger with a table saw in high school. No bones they are dangerous tools.
Thanks Ian. They got a ways to go but a good start
Nice work there.
Been a while since I posted anything project wise. Working on a black cherry cutting board and a cherry kuksa. The kuksa I'm basing the design on the enamel cup pictured.

I'm not a knife maker either but know that you'd need to anneal the blade first to cut it then retemper it. Interesting idea
Broke both wrists. First one near 30 yrs ago now most recent brake about 11 yrs now. Yep my hands get cold easy now.
They are great blades. Factory stuff they are my favorite brand
Those are especially nice looking. Normally not a fan of neck knife but dig that one.
I have one in 1095 to it doesn't have any rust on it. Let it get a natural patina no worries. Long as it doesn't sit wet or say come in contact with salt water you're pretty much good
