Girth Pioneers' Land at Shinning Cliff Woods (East Sussex)
Alderwasley, Derbys.

Shining Cliff Woods is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Owners of land designated as an SSSI are obliged by law to follow very strict regulations controlling the use of the land. Under normal circumstances this would exclude the use of the land for camping and associated activities. Girth Pioneers has special permission from English Nature (the Government department that polices SSSI's) to allow a limited amount of camping. The camping allowed is simple camping which causes minimal damage to the environment. We ask you to abide by these rules so we can protect the ecology of the woods and continue to be allowed to give permission to camp. You must book with Site Secretary Jill Jones, contact information: West Barton Gate, Challacombe, Barnstaple, Devon. EX31 4TU.

Yellow Wood Bush Camp (Welsh Border)

you can just come and camp with tarp/hammock/tent and a fire for £5.00 each 24 hrs plus an extra charge for firewood (we provide this so that deadwood remains for wildlife). It's £3.00 for kids. We do not allow dogs. There are basic 'bush' camping facilities, for example, compost toilets, and watering can showers. Mains water is now available on site! We would prefer you to bring smaller tents and form a grouping around a campfire, rather than have a huge family dome tent that involves locking you away from your surroundings, plus it may be difficult to enough flat space to pitch these. There are plenty of trees to hang tarps from...! Tipis are available for hire, as are canoes and bikes.

Scottish Holiday Cottages

The Woodland: The 15 acre woods to the rear of property are completely private and for the use of our guests and their visitors only. There is a great variety of terrain, a hard wide road with leaky trees and wild flowers, rustic steps leading on to a mown area, a ruin, rides cut through a meadow with all sorts of grasses and orchids, wild strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and brambles. A couple of rustic bridges over a stream which runs through ancient woodland, the remains of a sandstone quarry, also bluebells in spring. Deer, badgers, buzzards, owls & much more. Care must be taken at all times as there a couple of places where the water is deep. Children really need to be accompanied if leaving the garden.
